At any point in time, you can uncheck to be printed and assign a payment a check number. If already cleared due to reconciliation, then simply just add or edit check# and save. Entering check numbers instead of 'To Print' (Quickbooks for Mac 2015) Hi everyone, I'm trying to enter check numbers in the upper right corner of the check, but can't get rid of the 'To Print' field.

If the check is marked 'to be printed' then it will show 'To Print'. The 'to be printed' flag is a button on the bottom of the Write Checks window.
You can toggle it on and off manually there. Usually when you create a check you either assign it a number or you leave it 'to be printed'. Then the number is assigned when the check is printed on the check stock. The check stock already has numbers on it so it is done in this way. If you aren't printing the checks (for instance you are manually writing the checks) then you can just enter the number as you create them.
